On December 12, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to Sweden Cui Aimin met with Vilanious, Secretary-General of the Swedish National Commission for UNESCO, to exchange views on strengthening cooperation between the two countries within UNESCO and related fields. The event was attended by Huang Liqiong, the counselor in charge of educational affairs at the embassy.
Ambassador Cui provided an overview of China's efforts to promote high-quality development through further opening up and reform, its dedication to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, and its engagement in relevant international cooperation. He stated that the unprecedented global changes of the century are accelerating, bringing more global challenges, which require the consensus and strength of all countries to actively build a community with a shared future for mankind. He expressed hope that both sides would adhere to the principles of mutual respect, openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, enhance exchanges and mutual learning, and promote pragmatic cooperation in the field of education, science, and culture to deeper and more solid levels, benefiting the people of both countries and the world.
Vilanious introduced Sweden's involvement in UNESCO activities and expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with China in relevant areas to promote common development and social progress on both sides.
